Re: Demand to cease copyright infringement / unauthorized use of my copyrighted content

Dear Example Prints Online,

I am writing regarding copyright infringement / unauthorized use of my copyrighted content committed by you, as described below:

ARTICLE 1 — THE OFFENDING CONDUCT

Since at least August 2026 your online store has offered for sale three of my copyrighted photographs ("Harbour at Dawn", "Market Morning" and "Winter Elms") without a licence, credit or payment of any kind.

Dates of the conduct: August 12, September 3 and October 1, 2026

This matter concerns material protected under the Copyright Act (Canada). I am the owner of the copyrighted work described above (or the authorized agent of the owner), and the use described above was made without authorization. Unauthorized reproduction or publication of a protected work infringes the owner's exclusive rights under that Act.

ARTICLE 2 — WHY THIS IS UNLAWFUL

Your conduct violates my legal rights under the laws of Ontario, Canada. I have documented the conduct described above and I am prepared to prove it.

ARTICLE 3 — MY DEMANDS

Remove all three photographs from your website and listings, destroy any unsold prints, and confirm in writing once this is done.

ARTICLE 4 — DEADLINE AND CONSEQUENCES

You are required to comply with the demands below no later than 2026-11-13. If you fail to do so, I will commence legal proceedings against you without further notice, and will seek all available remedies including damages, costs, and injunctive relief.

This letter is not a complete statement of my rights or claims, all of which are expressly reserved.
